Technical Review Meeting Held in Vilnius as Part of the CARBODIGIPARD Project

Project partners gathered in Vilnius, Lithuania, to review project activities and plan upcoming work under the Erasmus+ project “Raising Awareness through Training on Reducing the Carbon Footprint of IPARD Investments” (CARBODIGIPARD), coordinated by the Agriculture and Rural Development Support Institution (TKDK).

Hosted by Lithuania’s National Paying Agency, the meeting reviewed the work carried out under the project and its respective work packages. Discussions covered the methods being developed to measure, monitor and reduce the carbon footprint of agricultural enterprises, alongside technical work and activities planned for the next phase.

As part of the meeting programme, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania, the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania and Lithuania’s National Paying Agency delivered presentations on relevant European Union legislation, climate policies and practices implemented in Lithuania to reduce carbon footprints. These presentations provided valuable input for aligning the project’s technical work with European Union policies and practices.

The programme also included technical visits to Akvapona and LEAFOOD. These visits provided an opportunity to observe sustainable production, efficient resource use, innovative approaches and practices aimed at reducing environmental impacts in the agriculture and food sectors. Through these technical visits, project partners were able to assess practical experience and examples of good practice and compare them with work being carried out in their own countries.

The meeting and technical visits in Vilnius made valuable contributions to strengthening the exchange of knowledge and experience among project partners and advancing work on carbon footprint mapping, capacity building, digital training activities and the development of practices to reduce carbon footprints.

Coordinated by TKDK, the CARBODIGIPARD project aims to raise awareness and build capacity to reduce the carbon footprint of agricultural investments supported under IPARD, promote sustainable production practices and contribute to supporting climate-friendly investments.
